Renovations to the ambulatory programs reception and clinic areas to improve patient care, increase efficiency of service and update building systems and finishes. In addition to the ultrasound, and clinical consultation and examination spaces, the area under renovation included the main entrance to the hospital, the cashier’s office, education and meeting rooms, the gift shop, patient resource area and coffee shop.
The clinics operate morning and afternoon five days a week and general hospital traffic passes through the space at all times. Accordingly the renovations were completed in six stages with strict infection control procedures in place at all times. Movement of construction personnel, equipment and materials into the space was carefully controlled as was the timing of any work affecting adjacent patient care areas.
