This 22,000 sf facility brings together the community library, fitness activities, and a range of community programs for children and adults. Functions are grouped on two levels along an atrium spine; materials and colours reflect the robust environment; and large windows, balconies, and terraces tie the building to the site and provide views to majestic Mount Currie and the expanse of the Pemberton Valley.
The building is part of an overall site development which will include a new child care centre, a youth centre accommodated in the existing library, and a future water park. Site development will include a broad outdoor gathering space adjacent to the great hall and the ‘Pemberton Green’, a large amphitheatre suitable for community performances and events. Located on Portage Road, the primary access to the Village Centre from Highway 99, these facilities will provide a focus for the social and recreational life of the community.
