Affordable rental housing providing 8 units for Elders and 10 units for Youths. The units are arranged around a Great Room which provides the residents with common space for gathering, dining, and conversation activities.
Conceptually this is a large home in the tradition of the Coast Salish Longhouses of the West Coast. Following that tradition of the extended family environment wherein the Youths can receive mentoring and support from their Elders, the building plan encourages interaction among the residents with an open central layout that accommodates social activities.
