Co-housing is a housing model pioneered in Denmark, where a home is more than a “shelter”, but a part of a community village. Under this concept, individual housing units are clustered together to use the land more intensively; 4 acres of the 6½ acre site remain in their natural state.
The housing form and construction standards create energy savings. Sharing of cooking, cleaning and maintenance means lower energy consumption; tools and equipment are not duplicated.
The project received a Gold Georgie Award and an UDI Award of Execellence.
